Daniel Kinahan is a notorious crime syndicate boss and alleged puppeteer figure in the world of boxing and MMA.
Kinahan is also the co-founder of MTK Global, an event management and promotion company representing approximately 250 combat athletes.
The Irish gang leader recently made headlines after the US government imposed financial sanctions on him on April 11. Under sanctions announced by US authorities, Kinahan and six other men – including his father and brother – have been named, effectively blocking them from carrying out transactions through the US banking system.
On top of that, a $5 million reward was offered to anyone with information leading to Kinahan’s arrest or conviction.
Last year, world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury caused a stir when he credited Kinahan with brokering a deal that led to the Anthony Joshua fight. The outcry only died down when MTK Global denied any involvement with Kinahan, insisting the infamous character had walked away from his role with the company. Fury vs. Joshua was nevertheless later canceled for a different reason.
However, a BBC Panorama A documentary titled “Boxing and the Mob” revealed that Kinahan operated in the shadows and remained an influential figure in combat sports. The team behind the documentary were reportedly threatened after their briefing aired.

During the post-fight presser, MMA reporter Al Dawson pressed Lazzez regarding his controversial comments. Dawson asked Lazzez about his motives for giving credit to the wanted fugitive, but the fighter insisted he knew nothing about the sanctions against Kinahan.
