UFC ‘Contender Series’ Results: Live Stream Updates – Season 6, Ep. 6

An incredibly successful season of Dana White’s (DWCS) Contender series continues tonight (Tuesday, August 23, 2022) at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+ with another episode loaded with international talent.

Last week’s episode 5 became the third episode of this season in which all five winners were awarded endorsement deals. Denise Gomes was the only one of the lot to go the distance, as Cameron Saaiman landed a vicious one-hit quitter, Jesus Santos Aguilar grabbed a tight guillotine, Darrius Flowers parted Amiran Gogoladze’s shoulder with a slam (watch -le), and Michael Parkin ended a frenetic main event in 1:57 via a rear-end choke.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Yusaku Kinoshita (5-1) takes on 6’4” Jose Henrique (5-0) in the welterweight star attraction. A bout before, undefeated middleweights Matej Penaz (6-0) and Seriques Dumas (6-0) face off at 205, while Rodrigo Lidio (12-2) and Mateusz Rebecki (15-1) meet in a Lightweight bout originally scheduled for Week 3. The only women’s bout of the evening sees Russia’s Viktoriya Dudakova (5-0) take on Brazil’s Maria Silva (8-0), while former TKO featherweight champion Alex Morgan (11-4), opens the card against CFFC kingpin Blake Bilder (6-0-1).

“Contender Series” Play-By-Play Results:

170 pounds: Yusaku Kinoshita vs. José Henrique

First round: Henrique remains mobile at the start. Kinoshita falls short of his punches, absorbs a counter uppercut after landing a kick to the body. Low kicks from Kinoshita, the second strays into the cut. A minute later. Kinoshita steps in with a nasty combo, eating hard counters in the process. The counter-elbow looks at Henrique. Right advance does not work. Two minutes later. Kinoshita smiled after dodging a return punch. Return kick attempt. It is cut at the side of the head, away from the eyes. Low blow with a heavy left hand, Henrique comes back with a counter. Two more minutes.

Calf kick by Kinoshita. Henrique moves and counters well. One more minute. Kinoshita to the body, 1-2 by Henrique. They trade lefts. Low kick to Kinoshita’s body kick, which avoids a flying knee. Straight cross by Henrique. One last exchange. 10-9 Henrique.

Round Two: Kinoshita dodges a head kick, laughs, and lands another low kick. 2-3 by Henrique. Kinoshita tries to blitz, can’t connect. Low kick lands, blitz fails again. Very nice move from Henrique so far. The body kick lands for Kinoshita, then a straight right to the left. They bang on the fence until a cross from Henrique knocks him down. Low kick and 1-2-2 from Kinoshita two minutes later. He rips that leg. Henrique 1-2. Still. Low kick from Kinoshita in return and a pair of heavy lefts. Henrique waves to him. Two more minutes.

Henrique goes left-handed, tries an elbow. He responds to a low kick with a jab. Pointed cross. 2-3 narrowly missed a minute from the end, no kick to the body. Low kick from Kinoshita. Quick exchange near the fence. More low kicks from Kinoshita. Heavy combo from Henrique met by a pair of southpaws from Kinoshita. Fun fight. 10-9 Kinoshita.

Third round: Kinoshita tries to force his way through and again takes a finger in the eye. Henrique was warmed up several times, but no deductions. Once the fight resumed, Henrique intervened with a heavy cross, but it was Kinoshita who slipped it and blasted a monstrous counter shot. Henrique is somehow still awake when he hits the ground, but Kinoshita seals the deal with a barrage of punches.

Final result: Kinoshita defeats. Henrique by TKO (punches)


205 pounds: Matej Penaz vs. Sedriques Dumas

Round one: Hard left hook from Dumas, which follows up with a mount body lock takedown. Penaz breaks free, but Dumas locks in a vicious palm-to-palm guillotine on the way up. The admirable resistance of Penaz is not enough, and he is quickly forced to type.

Final result: Dumas defeated. Penaz by submission (guillotine choke)


155 lbs: Rodrigo Lidio vs. Mateusz Rebecki

Round one: Rebecki fires a head kick and a knee to spin Lidio to the mat with one leg. Up on guard. Lidio heads for the fence, looking to hold on for a minute. Rebecki catches the front headlock as he stands, avoids a knee on the break. Another shot from Rebecki, which carries Lidio to the center of the cage before knocking him down to half guard. Lidio has a hook, can’t use it. Rebecki works to pass, and as Lidio tries to shape into him, Rebecki concludes a no-hook RNC for the finish.

Final result: Rebecki defeated. Lidio by submission (rear naked choke)


115 lbs: Viktoriya Dudakova vs. Maria Silva

Round one: Low kick and right hand from Silva. Dudakova flounders in the clinch, gets a double under and Silva muscle on guard. Short punches from Dudakova. A minute later. Silva has one foot on Dudakova’s hip, can’t make space. Dudakova stands above her, drops a right hand to the body. Two minutes. Right hand in side control, Silva takes the full. Elbow of Dudakova. Two more minutes.

Nice right dive. Brief pass attempt in half guard. Silva avoids a lot on the ground, but doesn’t do a ton to stand up. Now Dudakova stands up and leaves her up with a minute to go. She puts Silva back against the fence. Nice whizzer throw and she’s on top of the guard again. 10-9 Dudakova.

Round two: Dudakova cracks her with a counter right and puts her on the fence. Jockey for the position, but it was Silva who finished in the lead in half-guard. Dudakova tries to sweep, to end up on horseback. One minute. Silva stays tight, elbows short. Impressive flexibility from Dudakova to regain guard. Upkick met by low kicks from Silva. Silva lets her get up. Quick clinch, Silva takes him to the fence and fights off an outside crop. Two more minutes.

Dudakova’s Whizzer kick puts her on top of the guard again. Short punches. Silva kicks her, doesn’t have time to get up. One more minute. Punches to the body and to the head of Dudakova, who waves at him. Dudakova appears to injure her knee/ankle backing up, but manages to attempt a flying scissors takedown. Knocked down in the last seconds, good punches from Silva. 10-9 Silva.

Third round: Dudakova assures the doctor that she is fine but does not look stable on her feet. Despite this, she hits another early takedown. Nice tries to scramble by Silva but all she manages to do is regain guard. One minute. Lateral control for Dudakova. Searching for the crucifix, landing punches. Two minutes. More punches from Dudakova. Shoulder strikes. Silva tries to come back up and Dudakova catches her with two minutes remaining.

Both hooks for Dudakova. One more minute. Silva battling his hands but unable to separate. Dudakova lands short shots to the bell. 10-9 Dudakova.

Final result: Dudakova defeated. Silva by unanimous decision


145 pounds: Alex Morgan vs. Blake Bilder

First round: Bilder circling to start. Morgan is advancing steadily. Nice leg kick. A minute later. Morgan 1-1-2 fails. Head kick attempt, low kick lands. Slow fight so far. Another low kick from Morgan two minutes later. Bilder splits the guard with a cross, his first real punch of the fight. Morgan low kick, Bilder body kick. In one quick move, Bilder cracks him with a right cross, jumps onto his back, and finishes the RNC. Morgan escapes the first, but Bilder hands it over to force the tap.

Final result: Bilder beats. Morgan by submission (rear naked choke)
