by Dana White Competitor Series makes its final appearance of 2022 tonight (Tuesday, September 27, 2022) at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+ with a final batch of potential Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) stars.
Once again, all five winners from last week walked away with contracts, including 17-year-old Raul Rosas. The other four winners (Brunno Ferreira, Austen Lane, Nurullo Aliev and Jafel Filho) did so by knockout (technical), the first three in the first round.
After impressing in his first appearance earlier this year, super middleweight prospect Bo Nickal (2-0) returns against Cage Fury champion Donovan Beard (7-1) in tonight’s main event. . Thirty pounds south, 6’4″ Sam Patterson (9-1-1) takes on Kings MMA’s Vinicius Cenci (6-1). The middle fight pits Ecuadorian featherweight Freddy Emiliano Linares (8-1) against his compatriot Jack Jenkins (9-2), Rafael Ramos Estevam (10-0) battles Joao Elias (17-3-1) in a surging Brazilian flyweight clash, and CES bantamweight champion Ashiek Ajim (6- 1) takes on undefeated Chute Boxe product Mateus Mendonca (9-0).

185 pounds: Bo Nickal vs. Donovan Beard
Round one: Beard attempts a low kick. Big knockdown left by Nickal, who immediately takes full mount. He rolls up the assembled triangle, turns around and here is the tap.
Final result: Nickal defeats. Beard by submission (triangle choke)
155 lbs: Sam Patterson vs. Vinicius Cenci
Round one: Patterson goes for a head kick, eats a body shot. Cenci winging the right hand hard, digs a knee to the body as he is taken to the fence. Jockey for position one minute later. They are separating. Cenci throws huge left hands as he chases and clips Patterson against the fence before tying himself up. They separate for two minutes. Jab from Patterson. Low-blow. Cenci walking after him, throwing heat. Patterson puts him on the fence. They separate, then reunite a few seconds later. Knees to Patterson’s body. They split up two minutes from the end.
Cenci sniffles on another overhand. Nice short combo lands for Patterson. Cenci tries on a two-piece, eats a knee to the body as they strap in. Nice withdrawal with a minute to go. Looking for the back. Patterson turns into first position, has to fend off a triangle attempt. 10-9 Ceci.
Round two: Peppering Patterson with jabs and right hands. He avoids a flying knee, lands a knee to the body. Cenci catches it with a hard 1-2 that backs it up, then takes a groin kick. One minute. The right hook lands for Cenci, Patterson’s right cross. Against Cenci on the left, Patterson combo, clinch. Good low kick from Patterson, then a well-timed counter-uppercut as Cenci shoots. He locks up a d’arce, just takes side control. Threatening with the guillotine, recaptured in half-guard. Two more minutes.
Cenci tries to transform into him and gets caught in a palm-to-palm guillotine. Patterson goes looking for the back. You’re looking for the RNC and he’s got it.
Final result: Patterson defeated. Cenci by submission (rear naked choke)
145 lbs: Freddy Emiliano Linares vs. Jack Jenkins
Round One: Superman’s punch lands for Linares. He responds to a low kick with a blitz and ends up being cautioned. Locking the half guard a minute later. Jenkins frays chest to chest. Two minutes. Nice move to go up. Good balance, giving up shots two minutes from time.
Linares shows some flexibility to place his legs around Jenkins’ midsection. Looking for a leglock, use the stance to get to the turtle and drop punches. They hit him inside to end the round. 10-9 Jenkins.
Round two: Hard kick from Jenkins met by a blitz. Linares shoots, denies, eats a knee to the body at the exit. More knees down, attempted foot sweep. Both knees land at the body. The reactive shot puts Jenkins back on top of the guard. One minute. Stay tight, drop the floor and pound. Two minutes. Good elbows opened up Linares above the right eye. Two more minutes.
Another hard elbow from Jenkins. Linares leaks badly. More brutal elbows as Linares drops to his knees. One more minute. Linares gets up, gets tripped in half guard. Final nudge. 10-8 Jenkins.
Round three: Linares rushes in and is briefly taken down. They stop to fix Jenkins’ cup, a surprisingly long undertaking. Nice header from Jenkins, then a combo inside. Good low kick, knee exchanges inside. Good elbow from Linares, but Jenkins kicks him away into side control a minute later. Half guard. Shorter elbows. Two minutes later. Linares sits down in his own one-legged attempt. Then look for an uchi mata, end up at the bottom and abandon the mount. Two more minutes.
More punches and elbows from Jenkins. One more minute. Linares gives up his back and Jenkins flattens him. Drop right hands. Ref might call it a little prematurely, but the damage was piling up and Linares isn’t protesting.
Final result: Jenkins defeated. Linares by TKO (punches)
125 pounds: Rafael Ramos Estevam vs. Joao Elias
Round One: They meet in the center and immediately begin exchanging heat. Estevam shoots and Elias rolls straight in an armbar attempt. It looks good, but Estevam resists. As Estevam tries to stand, Elias jumps for a triangle. No dice. A minute later. Elias punching his back. Looking for the light switch, trying to stand against the fence. He rolls to avoid a two-minute comeback, then locks onto a knee cap. Another good defense from Estevam, which drops hammers. Elbows with two minutes to go.
Elias looks for a sweep, rolls for an armbar. More punches from Estevam on top. Heavy gunfire accumulates from half guard. One more minute. Hammers, elbows. Elias takes over guard. No more elbows from Estevam; impressive leverage over a short distance. Elias rolls to his knees and eats punches to the bell. 10-9 Estevam.
Round two: Estevam shoots right away and their heads thunderously come together. He finishes the shot, but the referee naturally holds them back. Estevam fires a fair shot and brings him down immediately, dodging a guillotine and going into half guard. Keep punishing him with punches and elbows. A minute later, Elias searches for a kimura, gets even more crushed on his problem. Sweep attempt rejected. They can stop that at any time. Hammerfists two minutes later. Just too much damage and the ref arrives.
Final result: Estevam defeated. Elias by TKO (punches and elbows)
135 pounds: Ashiek Ajim vs. Mateus Mendonca
Round one: Ajim’s low kick, then a nice shot as Mendonca tries to throw. Low kick from Mendonça to the front kick. Another low blow from Ajim. Mendonca responds with a teep and low kicks. Then comes a hard 3-2 that seems to catch Ajim behind the ear and send him crashing to the mat, where Mendonca unleashes a monster left hand to turn off the lights.
Final result: Mendonça defeats. Ajim by KO (punches)
