A UFC heavyweight title unifier between undisputed champion Francis Ngannou and interim title holder Ciryl Gane is official for UFC 270 on January 22.
The promotion announced the headliner a la carte at the UFC Vegas 41 Main Card on Saturday, confirming that Ngannou vs. Gane will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. This is the UFC’s first trip to California since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
Gane won the provisional title in August with a stoppage victory over Derrick Lewis at UFC 265. Lewis was initially scheduled to face Ngannou, who had won the title five months earlier at UFC 260, but the promotion put in place a provisional title when scheduling conflicts have been judged. the undisputed champion.
Also on display at the à la carte event is a flyweight title co-star between champion Brandon Moreno and ex-champion Deiveson Figueiredo, who meet for the third time after Moreno won the belt in June at UFC 263.
