UFC 267 video: Lerone Murphy flattens Makwan Amirkhani with brutal knockout to the knee

A slow start gave way to a fantastic end for Lerone Murphy at UFC 267.

After spending most of the first round on his back, Murphy made a necessary adjustment with the advice of his coaches in the corner as he came out ready to stop Makwan Amirkhani’s next takedown attempt. As soon as “Mr. Finland” lowered his head and grabbed his legs, he was greeted with a vicious knee kick from Murphy, who timed his shot to coincide with the withdrawal.

As soon as the knee connected, Amirkhani was knocked unconscious as he fell back onto the canvas as Murphy then celebrated his arrival on the stage just 14 seconds into the second round.

“I felt a bit behind my back. Once I was warm I was dangerous, ”Murphy said afterwards. “I knew straight away that it was the end of the game. We come for this top 15 and it’s $ 50g !. “

It was a very impressive comeback from Murphy, who struggled under Amirkhani’s grappling hook throughout the first round. Almost immediately after the start of the fight, Amirkhani was looking to lead the fight on the ground where he controlled Murphy while trying to pass his defense.

That all changed when Murphy set up a nice feint that caused Amirkhani to drop down for the takedown and that’s when he met the knee that ended the fight.

Amirkhani actually stood still in the cage for a few minutes after the brutal knockout, but was eventually able to get back to the stool with his coaches and medical staff surrounding him.

Still undefeated with a perfect 11-0-1 record, Murphy continues to deliver memorable performances as he slowly and steadily climbs the featherweight ladder with this latest win perhaps his best yet.
