Ryan Spann vs. Ion Cutelaba for UFC event on February 26

Two of the light and heavy trucks will collide in early 2022.

A clash between Ryan Spann and Ion Cutelaba was signed for the UFC Fight Night event on February 26.

MMA Fighting confirmed the news Thursday following an initial report from MMA Island.

Spann (19-7) will be looking to bounce back from a top-down campaign in 2021 that started with a first-round knockout of Misha Cirkunov but ended in a loss to Anthony Smith. The 30-year-old Tennessee native is 5-2 overall in his octagonal career, a streak marked by saves by Antônio Rogério Nogueira and Devin Clark.

Cutelaba (16-6-1), meanwhile, is hoping to capitalize on his newfound momentum after a decisive victory over Clark in September that ended a three-fight crisis. Prior to this victory, the 28-year-old Moldovan fighter lost consecutive fights to Magomed Ankalaev and then fought to a draw against Dustin Jacoby. Cutelaba is 5-5-1 so far in his UFC career.

The UFC event on February 26 is expected to be marked by a light showdown between Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev.

The promotion has yet to officially announce the location and location of the event, but it is slated to take place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
