Nate Diaz teases interest in Tony Ferguson fight, Conor McGregor responds

Nate Diaz has another fan favorite in his sights.

On Friday, the welterweight star tweeted an image of former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson, possibly hinting at a future clash between the two.

Although Diaz’s tweet did not come with a caption, the image alone elicited an immediate reaction from several fighters on social media, including Diaz’s longtime rival Conor McGregor, who tweeted and deleted it. following :

McGregor and Diaz have their own long history, which includes the separation of two fights that took place at UFC 196 and UFC 202, two of the most successful pay-per-view events in company history. A trilogy fight has long been discussed, although McGregor’s competitive status is unknown as he recovers from a broken leg he suffered in his last fight with Dustin Poirier in July.

Bad blood between Diaz and Ferguson isn’t new either.

In April, Ferguson tweeted that Diaz was “my bitch,” rekindling an ox that dated back to 2017 when Diaz claimed the UFC was pressuring him to fight “El Cucuy”. For his part, Ferguson recently called for a fight with McGregor rather than Diaz.

A clash between Diaz and Ferguson could be a boon to both of their careers, with Diaz having suffered back-to-back losses and Ferguson currently on a three-game losing streak.
