Daniel Rodriguez was initially supposed to face Abubakar Nurmagomedov at UFC Vegas 31, but an injury changed things and placed him in front of Octagon newcomer Preston Parsons. And while Parsons was a play dance partner, Rodriguez was just too heavy for him, finishing him with ground strikes at 3:47 of the first round.
The beginning of the end came when Rodriguez hit Parsons with a big right hand that made him wince and fiddle with his eyes. But, it was all of the sudden, which left Rodriguez free to come and kill him. Parsons valiantly attempted to chase a teardown, but was ignored. From there, “D-Rod” went to work on his half-blind opponent, hitting him with several violent combos until he collapsed against the cage.

The win takes Daniel Rodriguez to 15-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC and a strong two-game winning streak.
