Junior Dos Santos confident of beating Pulev: I think the rules favor me

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos is preparing for his debut in the sport of boxing.

This debut will be easy, as he faces highly experienced heavyweight veteran Kubrat Pulev – in the main event of Triller’s next event on February 26 in Houston, TX.

Dos Santos vs. Pulev will take place in Triller’s Triad Combat triangular ring.

The rules combine boxing with a limited number of MMA moves – but takedowns, submissions, elbows and kicks are not allowed.

Dos Santos has been stopped in his last four fights with the UFC.

But, he faces a very dangerous opponent in Pulev (28-2, 14 KOs) – who suffered his two career losses to world class champions Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko.

In November, Pulev made his Triller debut — under Triad Combat rules — and blew out former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in the first round.

Dos Santos is undeterred – explaining that styles and rules make the fights.

“It’s a great opportunity. I did some self-reflection and I really miss the fights. Junior told Ag Fight. “To relive this period of preparation is very exciting. I am very motivated. Pulev is very experienced. He’s fought some big names in boxing, really tough guy. He’s the kind of challenge that will get anyone going. I’m not going there to do a pointless fight with no career aspirations. My goal at 37 is to accomplish great things. More than I have already accomplished.

“I think the rules will help me make a perfect transition into boxing. If there was ever an opportunity for me to test myself in boxing, this is it. It’s time. The promotion gives boxers a chance to do some MMA and MMA guys to do some boxing. It’s the perfect mix.

“I think the rules favor me when it comes to grappling. But I’m not here to fight, you know that. I’m here to box. I want to let my hands fly, that’s what I do best. Still looking for the knockout.
