The veteran UFC contenders will face each other soon at UFC 265.
MMA Fighting has confirmed with sources familiar with the match that Jose Aldo (29-7) will fight Pedro Munhoz (19-5, 1 NC) in a bantamweight contest at the upcoming UFC pay-per-view event. August 7. The location of the event remains to be determined. The match was first reported by Combat.
Aldo, a former UFC featherweight champion, recently snapped a three-fight slippage when he defeated Marlon Vera by unanimous decision last December. “Junior” was 0-2 at 135 pounds so far, with losses to Marlon Moraes and Petr Yan; the last fight was for a vacant bantamweight title.
Munhoz also scored an important victory in his last outing at a Fight Night event in February, when he claimed a unanimous decision victory in a rematch against Jimmie Rivera. He had entered that fight with consecutive decision losses to Frankie Edgar and Aljamain Sterling, but overall he has won eight of his last 11 fights.
A headliner has not been announced for UFC 265. A championship fight is set to take place on the map with two-division champion Amanda Nunes defending her bantamweight title against Julianna Pena.
