Jorge Masvidal looking for a trilogy fight after beating Kamaru Usman

BMF champion Jorge Masvidal is gearing up for his highly anticipated rematch at UFC 261. “Gamebred” will face “The Nigerian Nightmare” and fight for welterweight gold. Kamaru Usman is undefeated in the UFC with three title defenses on his resume. He has already beaten Jorge Masvidal in his second defense at UFC 251 and will be looking to go 2-0 against BMF.

During a Q&A session for ESPN + subscribers, Masvidal spoke to Laura Sanko, where he made it clear his intentions to book a trilogy against Usman after defeating him.

He said, “When I win the rematch. We will definitely go for the trilogy as I will not be making history 1-1 with this individual. It just won’t happen.

“ Gamebred ” made it clear to the media that if he wins the rematch, he will fight in a trilogy because he not only wants to tie the game, but he wants to take the lead over Kamaru Usman.

Jorge Masvidal will cut only 8-9 pounds

Now Jorge Masvidal has all the time he needs to prepare for the fight. The first time around, he had an intrinsic excuse, as he had to reduce 20 pounds in just six days. Weight reductions are very difficult for a fighter as he has to drain water from his body. This causes dehydration and fatigue in the muscles which ultimately degrades their performance inside the Octagon.

Masvidal said, I’m not going to cut 20 pounds of weight now, mostly water, in six days. Right now I’m eight, nine pounds before I hit the 170 mark. So that’s a whole different weight loss. This is going to be the main determining factor, I think. (h / t: mmafighting.com)

Masvidal claims he is very close to gaining championship weight, and this time around he only needs to reduce 8-9 pounds before the fight. It could make a huge difference in the fight, as Masvidal will be much more hydrated and energetic compared to the last fight.

“ Gamebred ” looks super-motivated, and the welterweight belt seems super necessary for the Miami-born fighter to achieve his goals of surpassing “ The Nigerian Nightmare. ”

Will Masvidal shock the world at UFC 261 or will he suffer another defeat?
