Dillon Danis charged with disorderly conduct after alleged incident at Jersey Shore bar

Dillon Danis has been charged with disorderly conduct following an alleged incident that took place last Saturday at the Jersey Shore bar.

A spokesman for the Seaside Heights, New Jersey court confirmed the charge Tuesday after a video posted to social media showed a man who appeared to be a Bellator welterweight and a longtime training partner of Conor McGregor, Danis, 28, being released from a facility by police in handcuffs. According to a court summons obtained by MMA Fighting, the alleged incident took place at the Beachcomber Bar and Grill.

The summons contained few details about the incident which led to the indictment, except that Danis allegedly “caused a disturbance” at the bar which the assessor witnessed, according to an attached incident report. . Danis was scheduled to appear in Seaside Heights City Court on October 19, according to the summons.

Shortly after a report from MMA Junkie showing the video and what appeared to be a photo of Danis posted by Roasted MMA comedian Adam Hunter, Danis quoted from the movie Scarface in a tweet: “You need people like me. ” A Bellator spokesperson said the promotion had been made aware of Danis’ arrest and was “in the process of gathering information and has no further comments at this time.”

A disorderly conduct charge in Ocean County, New Jersey, where Seaside Heights is located, can result in up to six months in jail, fines and probation.

Danis hasn’t fought in the Bellator cage since June 2019, when he raised his pro MMA record to 2-0 for the promotion owned by ViacomCBS. He injured his knee helping McGregor prepare for UFC 246 which was canceled when booking the Bellator 238 in January 2020 and forced him to undergo surgery two months later.

A lack of fighting hasn’t kept Danis out of the spotlight. Last December, he was linked with a fight with Jake Paul after a social media star turned boxer ambushed him during an interview in a seemingly staged prank. On social networks, the jiu-jitsu specialist quarreled with a host of MMA stars, exchanging insults.

The Beachcomer Bar and Grill has become famous as the centerpiece of several episodes of the MTV show “Jersey Shore”. In 2009, the bar became infamous when a male patron punched down Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, causing her cast mates to attack the customer. Local residents lamented the effect of the spectacle on the reputation of the shore.
