Jessica Eye was forced out of her next fight on November 13 after the former flyweight title contender was recently hospitalized with an illness.
With Eye sidelined, Cynthia Calvillo has been chosen as a replacement and now she will face Andrea Lee in the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in November.
Calvillo will be looking to bounce back after dropping back-to-back fights for the first time in her career following losses to Jessica Andrade and Katlyn Chookagian in her last two Octagon appearances.
Ahead of those fights, Calvillo made a successful debut at 125 pounds with a unanimous decision victory over Eye, which immediately made her a contender in the division.
Now, she’ll be looking to get back to the winning column while taking on Lee, who just completed an impressive submission against Antonina Shevchenko in her last outing at UFC 262 in May.
The victory helped Lee put an end to a three-game losing streak dating back to 2019.
Once Calvillo vs. Lee is finalized, the flyweight bout will join a lineup on November 13 with the main event pitting former featherweight champion Max Holloway against Yair Rodriguez.
