Boxing’s first superstar takes on one of his finest technicians tonight (Saturday, May 7, 2022) when undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez returns to the light heavyweight division to challenge the roster of undefeated WBA titles Dmitry Bivol.
MMAmania.com will provide live coverage of the Canelo vs Bivol main event below. The main map broadcast starts on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) at 8 p.m. ET, while Canelo and Bivol are scheduled to take their walks in the ring around 11 p.m. ET.
Russian Bivol has firmly established himself as a top-two at 175 pounds with over half a dozen successful defenses off his belt. On paper, he’s way above the faded Sergey Kovalev, whom Alvarez equalized in his only (and only) appearance at weight in 2019.
If Canelo wants a lucrative third fight with Gennadiy Golovkin in September, he’ll have to earn it.
The card will also see undefeated heavyweight Zhilei Zhang take on late replacement Scott Alexander while rising lightweight Montana Love takes on Gabriel Valenzuela and top Uzbek prospect Shakhram Giyasov will open the show against knockout artist, Christian Gomez.
