Albert Duraev targeted for UFC debut against Alessio Di Chirico at UFC 267

Albert Duraev didn’t want to wait long for his first UFC assignment after an impressive victory over Dana White’s Contender Series last Tuesday, and he got his wish.

Sources familiar with the situation confirmed to MMA Fighting that a clash between Duraev and Alessio Di Chirico was targeted for UFC 267. The card will take place on October 30 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. ESPN was the first to report the game.

Duraev, a former ACB middleweight champion, landed a UFC contract with a dominating victory over Caio Bittencourt in DWCS Season 5, Week 3. “Machete” had nine straight wins, finishing eight of those wins, while ‘he’s looking to make a big splash in the UFC’s 185-pound division.

Di Chirico started the year with a knockout victory over Joaquin Buckley in the UFC Fight Island 7 event in January, ending a three-game losing streak. “Manzo” returned in August to UFC Vegas 35 where he suffered a similar fate at the foot of Abdul Razak Alhassan in just 17 seconds.

UFC 267 will feature a pair of world title fights, with Jan Blachowicz defending the light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira in the main event. Aljamain Sterling will make his first title defense in a rematch against Petr Yan in the main bantamweight championship co-event.
