Memorial Day Weekend for Riot Gear involved attending another great night of fights. SportFight 10 Mayhem started the night off with the amateur fights, and I must say, they were pretty good for amateurs!

The first fight of the night was between Marcus Dunfee and Bobby Howard. Howard tapped out in the second round, giving Dunfee his first ever win. The next Round were some big boys, Andy Eichollz vs. Brent Miller, both about 230 lbs. Eichollz broke Millers nose early in the fight, but Miller stuck it out, going all three rounds. The decision went to Eichollz, giving him his first win also.

Next up were Loyde Woodrad and Ed Nuno. Nuno closed the deal with a vicious flurry, giving him the KO victory, his 5th win as an amateur.

The last amateur fight of the night was between Tom Brown of Bend, Oregon and Mike Dolce out of Belmar, New Jersey. Dolce landed a huge left, dishing out the second KO victory of the night.

Now we moved on to the Pro Fights! First up was Paul “Picnic” Purcell against Buck Meredith. These two fought in out hard, but Purcell could take no more, giving Meredith the TKO win.

That brought us to Enoch Wilson and Noah Thomas, both weighing in at 155 lbs. The fight went back and forth for two rounds, and then Wilson got the upper hand, ending it with a rear naked choke, forcing Thomas to tap out.

That brought us to the Heavyweight division. This fight was between Fabiano Schrener and Sebastian Rodriguez. This fight went quick, over in under a minute!! Schrener, originally from Brazil got mount very quickly, landed some blows to Rodriguez’s face, and then ended the fight with a textbook arm bar!! This was one of the best fights of the night, though they were all action packed!

Next up for the pro fights was Damion Hatch vs. Mike Pyle. This one ended pretty quickly as well after Pyle got Hatch locked into a rear naked choke, and he tapped out. This was Pyle’s 11th victory.

The next fight went all 3 rounds, and was filled with action and blood! Bristol Merunda fought Art Santore, and the judges gave the win to Santore after 3 brutal rounds.

That brought us to the main event of the night! Brandon Melendez was defending his Welterweight title from Chris Wilson! What a fight!! These two knocked each other around the ring, and then Wilson dealt a devastating blow to Melendez, knocking him out, and taking the belt!!

Every SportFight I have attended has been great, and this one was no exception! If you missed this one, be sure to get tickets to the next SportFight, July 9th at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon!! This will be their biggest event yet!!!
