Figured this might be a fun thread. Obviously for the lesser known promotions and the up-and-coming fighters who aren't quite headed for the big shows yet. Now that MMA is sanctioned in PA, I hope they bring some good cards to Philly. I'll try to bump and update this when cool shit happens. Most of this stuff I'll be pulling pull from the major blogs and sites, so I'm sure other folks here can contribute more than I can. Of course, it is mandatory that we bump this every time Dan fucking Severn fights.

Friday was Shine Fights sophomore effort "ATT vs. The World." Shine's Florida based and they seem to have a lot of potential. ATT swept the show in case you gave a shit. Here are the results:

-Roan Carneiro def. Jorge Patino via unanimous decision
-Yves Edwards def. James Warfield via submission (triangle choke) - Round 2, 4:48
-Luiz Firmino def. Ryan Healy via unanimous decision
-Flavio Alvaro def. Jean Silva via Majority decision
-Micah Miller def. Anthony Morrison via submission (arm-triangle choke) - Round 2, 4:25
-Junior Assuncao def. Pete Grimes via split decision
-Herbert Goodman def. James Brasco via TKO (strikes) - Round 3, 3:24
-Brian Fuery def. Phil Friedman via submission (neck crank) - Round 1, 2:03

Good to see Yves doing his thing. Hopefully he'll get another good run in.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Aruba last Saturday, Vendetta FC hosted an 8-man LHW tournament with a pretty deep field. Apparently the show's gonna air on Fox Sports South or something like that on Oct 1:

First round
-Aaron Stark def. Angelo Araujo via unanimous decision
-Rodney Wallace def. Gregory Milliard via unanimous decision
-Antwain Britt def. Carmelo Marrero via unanimous decision
-Richard Hale def. Evan Nedd via majority decision

Semi-finals
-Rodney Wallace def. Aaron Stark via submission (kimura) - round 2, 2:18
-Antwain Britt def. Richard Hale via majority decision

Tournament final
-Rodney Wallace def. Antwain Britt via submission (armbar) - round 1, 3:59

Superfight:
-Derrick Noble def. Shonie Carter via unanimous decision

Never seen this Wallace guy before, but he's apparently 8-0 and he subbed two pretty tough guys to win this. Surprised to see Marrero go in the frist round. It seems like he's been struggling at 205 for some reason. Maybe Britt's wrestling is better than I thought. Obviously Carmelo won't be finding his way back to the UFC any time soon.

If you have nothing better to do on Saturday (09/12), you might be interested in some of these shows.

In Amarillo, TX. MMAWeekly's gonna stream it on their site for $5.95. Bas Rutten and Ron Kruck are gonna do the commentary. Some fights:
-Don Frye vs. Dave Herman
-Gerald Harris vs. Nissen Osterneck
-Phil Cardella vs. Ran Weathers
-Pat Heely vs. Anthony Waldburger

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then there's the Bitetti Combat card which is apparently gonna air live on Brazilian TV. Not sure if any Brazilian folks post here, but there are some interesting fights:
-Ricardo Arona vs. Marvin Eastman
-Paulo Filho vs. Alex Schoenauer
-Pedro Rizzo vs. Jeff Monson
-Murilo Rua vs. Alex Stiebling

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image
There's also the debut event from "Arena Rumble." They're Washington based and their card's gonna be in Spokane on Saturday. Don't think there'll be a broadcast:
-Jason Guida (17-20) vs. Jeremy Horn (81-19-5)
-Trevor Prangley (20-5) vs. Dennis Reed (43-44-1)
-Lyle Beerbohm (12-0) vs. Josh Martin (6-3-1)
-Terry Martin (18-7) vs. Julio Paulino (14-2)

First off.....fuck yeah I'm interested in any card that don frye fights on.

Secondly...that brazilian card is sick.

I've been following some of the smaller shows out here and yes I'm trying to see if I can get medically approved to fight. To be honest its a long shot but ill for sure keep you guys posted. I one punch ko'd my boss so I still have some power I guess lol.

I haven't been training much other than jiu jitsu with odie neto full time. My ground game has gotten pretty damn good. If anything I'm looking for a very small, very underground show that maybe won't be too dilligent on medical background. So if anyone knows of anything let me know.

Props to rizzo for beating monson. It wasn't that long ago that monson beat sergei so this is a big win for him.

Props to gumby getting a win as well.

Ricardo Arona made a triumphant return to the mixed martial arts scene, as he defeated UFC veteran Marvin Eastman by unanimous decision in the main event at Bitetti Combat Nordeste 4 on Saturday at the Maracanazinho Gymnasium.

Away from the fight game for more than two years, Arona looked rusty, even though he declared himself well-trained in the days leading up to the event. Eastman forced the Pride Fighting Championships veteran to work throughout the three-round bout and used his cage experience to his advantage.

Arona utilized his strength to take down Eastman in the first round, but the American used the fence to escape and returned twice to a standing position. “The Brazilian Tiger” closed the stanza on Eastman’s back.

After a productive opening period, Arona had a hard time taking down Eastman in the second. The Las Vegas-based 38-year-old landed several strikes on Arona, which appeared to give him the edge in the round. What’s more, Arona twisted his knee in the closing seconds and had onlookers worried.

However, in round three, Arona showed the kind of heart that marked his fights in Pride, as he came out and exchanged punches with Eastman. Though he may have lacked technique, he lifted the audience by landing some kicks and punches. Arona then put an exclamation point on his first win in three years by taking down Eastman in the final minute.

“I think it was a pretty fair result,” Eastman said. “I won one round, and he won two, but it was a nice experience. I hope they bring me back for the next show, maybe to fight [Paulo] Filho.”

Image
If Arona was saved by his physical conditioning and heart, former World Extreme Cagefighting middleweight champion Paulo Filho was saved by the admiration and respect Alex Schoenauer had for him.

Clearly out of shape, Filho spent all three rounds trying to take down Schoenauer. Filho became noticeably winded by round two, but Schoenauer, aware of the Brazilian’s strong record and reputation, respected him to a fault and did not start to attack with powerful punches until the third round.

When the fight ended, Filho was booed by the audience; the noisy boos increased when he was declared the winner by unanimous decision.

“In my opinion Alex won, but he could have decided the fight if he attacked more,” said Sergio Penha, Schoenauer’s trainer. “The problem is he fought against an idol. He respected Paulo a lot.”

Doesn't look like they had very convincing victories. On paper, it seemed like they would both get the sub at some point. Filho's fight was at 205 in case anyone was wondering.

Rodney “Shonuff” Wallace signs four-fight deal with the UFC

Undefeated light-heavyweight Rodney “Shonuff” Wallace has signed a four fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

FiveOuncesOfPain.com has recently learned of the signing through sources close to the situation.

The signing of the rapidly rising prospect comes on the heels of his tournament annihilation during a Vendetta Fighting Championships card held on September 5. Wallace took it back to the old school during the eight man tourney, running through the likes of Gregory Milliard, Aaron Stark and Antwaine Britt in a single evening, finishing the latter of the two by submission.

No news is currently available as to who Wallace will face in his Octagon debut, but make sure to check back with 5 Oz’s as we keep you updated on this up and coming talent in the UFC.

Haha, I'm not sure. I read an article on MMAWeekly a few days ago about that Menelly guy, though. He's a 3x NCAA wrestling champ (D2). That was his first fight.
