Before fighters are legends, they were young contenders. They also still had all their teeth and a lot less injuries to aggravate. Yes, even your favorite fighter was young once. They had birthday parties, drank cheap beer, and left the bar with ‘less than attractive’ women before they were famous. Sometimes, all three of those things happened in the same evening. Once the hangover came to an end, they’d return to the gym and strive to improve the following evening’s quality of beer, bar, and women. lol good stuff. I enjoy watching a lot of these old ass vids.

People can say what they want about old school mma/grappling or whatever else. But there was absolutely no money to be made in the sport back then. These guys were doing this stuff because they loved it. Sure they wanted to be paid a little bit, but most of that money was to just keep training.

The Brock Lesnars of the world would have never gotten into fighting if the money wasnt so good these days. Im not hating on Brock, I think most modern fighters are in it in large part for the money. And there is nothing wrong with that. However it is also why you see fights getting more boring now. Too much money is on the table for the top guys. If you lose you miss out on good money.

So watching some of the old shit is fun because you see guys often times just letting it all hang out and thoroughly enjoying themselves.
