caught up with Benji Radach during the intermission of Team Quest’s Sport Fight: Second Coming, on Saturday, August 23rd. He was acting as a judge for the event.

LC: Hey Benji, good to see you. What do you think of the event so far?

Benji: Thanks. This is great, man. The band is rockin’, the food is good, they got the booze flowin’ and these fights have been great so far. The fans love it, and I’m having a blast.

LC: Agreed. Congratulations on your recent victory over ‘Ximu’ Machado at King of the Cage. You’ve KO’d your last 4 opponents in the 1st round (since losing by TKO-cut to Sean Sherk). You seem to prefer ending your fights fairly quickly, huh? What gives?

Benji: No reason to hang around and take blows. I come focused on the business at hand.

LC: What is your take on Hallman’s recent loss to Drew Fickett?

Benji: It was just that – Hallman’s loss. I don’t think Fickett won it so much as Hallman lost it. He was doing fine then he seemed to get lackadaisical. His armbar from the triangle was nice, but he waited too long to go for it.

LC: When are you fighting again, and what is your game plan and prediction?

Benji: I’m supposed to fight in my hometown against Danny Lefever. Apparently he’s a fighter with a bigger mouth than brain. I plan to use my patented ‘Face-Smashing Fu’ and my prediction is that I dismantle his face.

LC: Do you plan to fight in the UFC again?

Benji: I would, it depends on them. I won’t be fighting as a WW, I can tell you that much. I’m back at 185 and feeling much more comfortable.

LC: What are your thoughts on the UFC MW division?

Benji: It’s a good one. There are a lot of great fighters there. I don’t even think I’ve reached my full potential yet, but I feel I could compete with anyone there right now. I still have things I want to learn and improve upon, but then I plan to tear it up and not look back.

LC: What do you think of a fight against Baroni?

Benji: Boy…that would be a good one. That’s a possibility someday. I definitely wouldn’t pass up the opportunity, but I don’t know that it would happen anytime soon.

LC: Thanks for taking the time, Benji.

Benji: Sure…later, man.
